On this day I thee wed...♥

On this 20th day of June year two-thousand and twelve.

Today makes twenty years...
twenty years of marriage.
 2 babies
15 years of being parents to one.
12 years of being parents to two.
 seven homes
 seven relocation's.

Today makes twenty years...
twenty years of marriage.
Loving, and worrying about him,
thinking he's the most handsome man alive.

Today makes twenty years...
twenty years of marriage.
Washing his laundry, holding my nose while gathering funky workout clothes, folding and putting it away.
Cooking meals, some good, some not worth mentioning, and loving how he ate them without complaint.

Today makes twenty years...
twenty years of marriage.
Knowing a zillion choice words that I never knew before.
Ridiculous arguments that neither one of us probably remembers the reasons of why.
Still upset about yesterday's issues and when he asks "What's wrong?"  I say "NOTHING!"
When I finally tell him what's wrong, he tries to fix it.  Only I don't want him to fix it.  I want him to listen and say he's sorry!

Today makes twenty years...
twenty years of marriage.
Moments spent watching movies while snuggling on the couch.
Memories of happiness, love, respect, friendship and knowing that no matter what trials & tribulations we've gone through...it's been worth it.

Hon, if you're reading this I want you to know that I love you very much.  I'm so proud of you and what you represent.  You are my best friend and the love of my life.  Thank you for asking me to be your wife 20 years ago and you're welcome for me saying yes.  Can't wait until Saturday!  Happy Anniversary!

Happy Father's Day!...Cupcake!

My pet name for the Hubster is "Teddy" not "Cupcake", but I thought the title was appropriate for this post.  This year instead of making the traditional Father's Day cake I thought it would be fun to make cupcakes.  I made vanilla cupcakes, frosted with buttercream icing, added rainbow sprinkles, and placed purple letters in the center spelling out Happy Father's Day for a festive twist.  They were cute and delicious!

The letters would have been more visible if they were a different color, but I still thought they looked pretty nice. They tasted yummy!

In my opinion cupcakes are a far better choice for dessert than cake.  The irresistible cupcake is an ingenious invention for its size alone.  In four bites or less, you can have a perfectly frosted delicious little treat.  Knives, forks, or dishes are not required.  All that is needed is a napkin and a sweet tooth.  Different colors can be created by adding food coloring to the icing.  Cupcakes can also be individually designed by embellishing them with sprinkles, candy, chocolate chips, etc. in essence making the cupcake a blank canvas for an artful masterpiece.  A variety flavors can be made in one setting too!  Thus, preventing the headache of trying to please everyone's taste buds.  How often do tastes differ in a family of 4, 5 or more?  Everyone has their own favorite cupcake and icing flavors.  In my family, the Hubster prefers vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting (unfortunately, he has been restricted from eating chocolate :'{.)  Sierra loves vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting and Isaiah loves chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting.  As for me the sweet tooth carbaholic, I would eat almost any combination put in front of me.  lol  However, my absolute favorite is red velvet cupcakes with buttercream icing.  Mmm..

What's your favorite kind of cupcake?  Do you prefer cupcakes or cake? Why?

Wordy Wagging Wednesday...Woof, woof!

On the first day, God created the dog and said, sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this I will give you a life span of twenty years.

The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"

And God said that it was good.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."

The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"

And God again said that it was good.

On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"

And God agreed it was good.

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."

But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service. If you are looking for me I will be on the front porch.

Misson not impossible!

Today I was suppose to be introducing a collection of new designs.  However, after conferring with the Hubster, and two confidants that I'll refer to as "The Voice of logic" and "The Pen of reason" (they know who they are), I experienced an "Aha moment."  Love when this happens!  Instead of sketching 4 new designs onto t-shirts, I kept going and sketched out 9 previous designs as well.  That's a total of 13 shirts in 4 days!  Wow!...now all I have to do is paint them, and Wah-la...the beginnings of an inventory will be born at last!  Where at one time the task of building an inventory seemed impossible, it is no longer.  I sense a craft booth with my name on it, CAPITAL LETTERS in the soon very near future.  Yeah, me!

I've made some subtle, but significant changes in a few of the older designs, and also my signature pattern.  Stay tuned to see the upcoming "before" and "after" results as I introduce a few designs at a time.  Buzz yall' later!

Baby it's hot outside!...time to cool down the kitchen.

"♪♫♪♫♪♫...I'm so glad we had this time together, just to have a few spectacular meals...♪♫♪♫,seems we just get started, and before you know it,comes the time we have to say♪♫♪♫♪... so long. (insert tugging on earlobe here.)"

Meet Esther

This is my version of the Carol Burnett goodbye song dedicated to my oven Esther.  When hints of summer are in the air it is time for her to go on vacation.  Vacation usually lasts until  just about 2 or 3 weeks after Labor Day.  I clean Esther from top to bottom getting her all shiny and sparkly like a brand new car.  Then I happily hand over the apron strings to the Hubster, and begin grilling season!  Now, the Hubster is usually not around during the weekdays due to traveling for work.  So, he grills enough goodies to last at least until Tues. or Wed.  For the rest of the week I usually cook quick stove top meals that will hold us over until the Hubster can grill again.  it!...can I get an Amen?

The hardest part of oven cleaning is trying to remove the baked-in gook from the stainless steel oven racks!  Please someone tell me why they are called "stainless?"  After about a month of cooking all I see are stains that don't come off effortlessly without shedding some blood, sweat and tears!  Humph!...the small print should read:  **Stainless steel after scrubbing feverishly.  Warning: may cause carpel tunnel.**

Alas!...I have discovered a way to get the oven racks sparkly clean kicking blood, sweat and tears to the curb!  Yes, you read correctly.  No, you don't need glasses.  If you wear glasses...no new prescription needed.  This tip works, 110% guaranteed!  However, I can't give you your money back if it doesn't, but I'll have a really hard time taking that Giant Foot out of my mouth.  LOL!  Seriously though, it really does work.  Check out my video down below.  If you do decide to try it, visit my blog and leave a comment.

P.S. ~ I forgot to add that this tip works for grill racks too!
